Common Courtesy is apparently dead as a doornail.
Dear 40-something year old dad who came barreling into my favorite coffee house this morning with his 7-ish year old son like a pair of wild boar (and nearly knocked my daughter and I down in the process), Way to show your son how to be a GENTLEMAN. How about you slow the eff down and hold the door for folks who are on their way out of the shop, instead of running them and making them wait for you...

Depression lies. And we NEED to keep talking about it.

(Some will say this is not the time. I disagree. This is the time when every mixed emotion needs to find voice.)
Since his arresting the early morning of January 11, 2011 — two years to the day before Aaron Swartz ended his life — I have known more about the events that began this…

Retail Rip Offs - Xmas 2012 (take one)
Dear Hanna Andersson,
I ordered over $50 worth of Xmas presents for my 6 yo daughter from your website on 11/30. You didn’t ship it until 12/5. And it won’t be delivered until at least Tues or Wed of this week (12/11 or 12/12!).
You also charged me $11 (ELEVEN dollars!) for shipping a box filled with 4 pairs of tights (how much does that weigh, a pound?). Tights!
ARE YOU KIDDING...

Is it just me...
Or has social media lost some of its luster?
I just don’t seem to care as much anymore. Goodness knows, I haven’t “blogged” with any regularity in eons. Not because I don’t have anything to say, but mostly because I’m sharing it IRL with my actual friends. And sometimes, I even write stuff down in my journal. Like I used to, in the Olden Days.
I dunno. I still...

Today has been a very sad day. But I want those of you out there who believe all the shite the news media says about Zynga to remember this, and remember it well… Each of those 100 “layoffs” are REAL people. People with families and friends, young children and babies on the way, aging parents, mortgages, responsibilities, etc. They’re not just faceless numbers. Some I have...
Thought via Path
Woke up from a deep sleep, strange dreams. Dexy curled up close. Thirsty. And now me and the Panda dawg are sitting outside on the back patio. Well, actually she’s rooting around on my hill, looking for critters & sniffing about in the moist grass. I can hear her paws crunching in the dead & fallen leaves. It’s funny being awake at midnight. Usually I’m dead asleep by...

Racist Moments of 2012, Pt.1 ~The Workplace~
This just makes me REALLY sad. What the heck is wrong with people? Broke my heart. For reals.

In August I worked full time at a start up in San Francisco, a gaming company in the financial District. For reasons I outline at the end of this recollection, I cannot name the company or use the real names of anyone in the office I discuss. I can say that ironically, months before...

What Happened to Nakai? →
Yet another sickening example of why Sea World in particular (and zoos/aquariums in general) must put an end to whale captivity. This is wrong on a multitude of levels, and the only reason they (Sea World) continues to keep the “entertainment” circus intact is for one thing, and one thing only, PROFITS. This has got to stop!

Yet another reason to effing hate the TSA with every fiber of my being, and to wish the most horrible of plagues upon them, as well as the jackarses in our Federal Gov’t that continue to allow this “organization” to operate with their repeated giant rubber stamp of approval. Ugh. Enough. It’s time to disband the TSA!

Mean People Suck. D'uh.
Guess I needed to be reminded (again) that some people really *are* jerks, right down to their very core. I also needed to be reminded that their journey is their own, and as such, ‘tis none of my business.
Their opinion of me is *also* none of my business. Need to stop getting a charge out of this stuff, stop hooking in to the “stories” (let alone carrying them with me...
