Saw “Brave” on Friday with my six year old - had the day off for her Kindergarten graduation - and I have to say, Pixar has completely outdone themselves. The lushness and depth of the animation is amazing. Mind-blowing amazing. The way it’s shot overall is amazing, with the same camera deftness of the best action sequences in a summer blockbuster you can possibly imagine (e.g. Merida riding her horse Angus through the forest at a full gallop, shooting arrows at targets in/on the trees and forest floor, made my heart soar). Truly jaw dropping! There is no doubt in my mind that “Brave” has set the bar even higher for animated features to come (Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli films notwithstanding). Wowzers.
